Conference of American Armies focuses on NCO development, COVID-19

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas — The 34th cycle of the Conference of American Armies, or CAA, focusing on non-commissioned officer education and COVID-19 lessons learned, was held Feb. 9-11 at U.S. Army South headquarters at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston as a hybrid in-person and virtual event due to pandemic restrictions.

DLA supports SOUTHCOM pandemic response efforts

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. — The Defense Logistics Agency is assisting U.S. Southern Command’s COVID-19 relief efforts in a number of countries in their area of responsibility through DoD’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, in addition to their ongoing support of national efforts. Since receiving the initial request on May 29, 2020, DLA Troop Support’s Construction and Equipment supply chain has provided 24 field hospitals to SOUTHCOM, who donated them to 11 countries within their AOR.

Guam, Hawaii share COVID best practices with the Philippines

HONOLULU — The Guam and Hawaii National Guard participated in a virtual subject matter expert exchange (SMEE) on COVID-19 with the Armed Forces of the Philippines as part of the Guard's State Partnership Program.

A panel, comprised of distinguished Armed Forces officials from both the United States and European Union countries, discussed contributions of reserve components to the alliance, and the past, present and future of transatlantic military relations during the first-ever “We Stood Together, We Stand Together” virtual panel co-hosted by the European Union Delegation to the United States and the Reserve Organization of America, November 12, 2020.

US and EU military leaders engage in virtual panel to further transatlantic cooperation

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — “I wish to stress that I am particularly impressed by those who decide to serve in the military in addition to their professional occupation in the civilian world”, said Stavros Lambrinidis, Ambassador of the European Union to the United States. “Those composing the military reserve forces enhance military readiness. They contribute their rich and diverse skills to the missions of armed forces, and they demonstrate a deep personal commitment to the defense of their nation and their allies.”

The Defense Language Institute English Language Center hosts a group discussion between instructors and cadets during a class conducted over Zoom July, 2020. This Virtual Training Team initiative is in its piloting stage and may prove to provide U.S. partners across the globe a viable hybrid distance learning option.

Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa supports Djibouti’s fight against COVID-19
