Although the coronavirus has cancelled scheduled training and exercises throughout 2020, military planners for Army South and the Chilean Army are focusing ahead to 2021 as the two armies concluded the 15th Annual U.S.-Chilean Army Staff Talks, held virtually Nov. 16-18. The U.S. Army has engaged in annual bilateral staff talks with Chile since 2006, which have been instrumental in enhancing the interoperability and cooperation between the two armies, contributing to increased security and stability in the region.

America’s Pacific Division kicks off platoon exchange with Indonesian Army

For more than 70-years the partnership between the United States and Indonesian Armies has endured, despite the two nations being geographically located on opposite sides of the earth. On Nov. 14, 2020, this partnership became a lot closer inside the historic F-Quad on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii as a platoon from the Tentara National Indonesian Army’s 431st Para Raider Infantry Battalion stood together as one with Soldiers assigned to 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment “Raiders,” 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division marking the official start to the U.S. hosted portion of the 2020 Indonesia platoon exchange.

VT Guard hosts trauma care training with North Macedonia

Lt. Col. Sarah Davis, clinical nurse assigned to the 158th Medical Group, Vermont Air National Guard, logs on to her computer for a three-day, virtual trauma nurse training – the new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic. On another continent, time zones away, more than 10 nurses in the North Macedonian Armed Forces were also at home and logging onto their computers Sept. 28. These nurses, much like those in the Vermont National Guard, work in clinical environments and also train for contingency operations, similar to training over a drill weekend.
